I am excited for them and I am so happy that I get to be apart of my friends' special day. I bought my bridesmaid dress and woot I am excited and I feel honored that Melissa wants me to stand with her on her special day.

Of course... I think about what my wedding is going to be like. Who will be standing with me? What will my colors be? Will my dad cry when he walks me down the aisle? and the most important question of all.... Who will be my husband? I get so giddy thinking about him and the amazing life that we are going to have together. I think about all of the fun things that we are going to do together. All of the fun places in the world that we are going to get to go. I wonder about where we are going to live.

I dream too much.

6 weeks from today I will be considered a college graduate. That scares me. The unexpected is so exciting but not when I don't have a job in crappy economic times. But I am so excited and I know that my parents are going to be so proud of me because I will be the first to graduate from college. :)

Some more random thoughts...

It is almost April and there is a HUGE snowstorm headed towards H-town. ANOTHER reason why I don't want to live in Missouri... the weather is SOOOOO unpredictable!!!!

Ok that's all....

5 more years?

Tomorrow is my birthday and I am turning 22.

I know that 22 is not old but man I feel like I am getting old and I don't want to get old. I think that I would like to stay 21 the age for a while.

I was talking to one of my roommates and telling her about how my stepmom died when she was 27. When Lori turned 22 did she think to herself, I might only live 5 more years? I have been thinking about that a lot. She got married when she was 25 and then lived for 2 years after that. It just seems crazy to think that she was only 5 years older than I am right now when she died.

I hope that if the Lord decides to take me in 5 years, that I will have glorified him in all things. I want to hear the words from him, "Well done my good and faithful servant."

Just something to think about...

What do you think???

I was reading a friend's blog yesterday and her post was about God, imagine that....

Well in her post she made a very good point. Do you think that God gives us more than we can handle? It is not in the Bible but it does talk about temptation...

I looked it up in the Bible and it says: And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. 1 Corinthians 10:13

I know many people think that it is a verse in the Bible. The verse that says that God will not give us more than we can handle.

What do you think? Do you think that God will give us more than we can handle?

Let's talk about it....

Changes...

Within the past week, I have experienced many changes both happy and sad.

One of those changes I never thought would ever happen. I guess that is just how naive I am. I always think positive happy thoughts and WAYYYYY to far ahead into the future. I need to learn to not do that because my heart gets broken even more. Hurt. I am hurting. I ask that you pray for me. I have a hole in my heart right now and I need some encouragement. I want to fill that huge hole in my heart with the love of God because He will NEVER leave me or forsake me. He will always be by my side.

Engagement. Well... everyone and their mother is getting engaged. I am so excited for all of these engagements and I am so excited to see what the future holds for these wonderful couples. I am not being bitter... because I DO NOT want to be engaged right now. That TOTALLY freaks me out!

Schooling. I started student teaching and woah buddy, 6 AM comes earlier than I ever thought that it would. I'm not a big fan of getting up that early. I guess I will have to learn to become one. I miss being at HLG all day long. I miss my wonderful random naps. Ohh they were so amazing. I miss being done with class at noon and then having the afternoon to veg. :( AND... I will admit... I miss chapel, it is the prime opportunity to see everyone on campus. I miss Randall and getting to go to his office. Well.. at least he didn't leave town because I would be oober sad. I am looking forward to an amazing American Idol season. :)

Prayers would be wonderful as well as any type of encouragement.

New Year... That I will truely let my light shine and let God use me in more ways than one.

__________________________________________

One of my wonderful friends has an ongoing list of to do things for the year. I thought that it would be interesting to make one and see what I really do accomplish this year.

* Go to a foreign country
* Get a "real" job
* Keep in contact with college friends
* Lose 15 pounds
* Keep in contact with South Africa friends
* Pay off at least $3000 of my college loans
* Go ice skating
* Go to a state that I have never been to before
* Learn how to drive a manual car
* Go on a road trip with friends
* Join an Bible Study
* Redo my bedroom
* Learn how to make a complete meal
* Graduate college
* Volunteer with an organization

I hope to achieve most of these... but we will see a year from now what I have accomplished. :)

This is a year of many opportunities and I am excited to see what this year unfolds for me.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://mallyflip.blogspot.com/2009/01/new-year-new-goals.html' title='New Year... Senior Year of College.

Right now I am currently: excited, sad, terrified, feeling adult-like, and stressed.

I didn't think that my senior year would ever come. I thought that I was going to be in college for the rest of my life, borrowing oodles of money to pay for a piece of paper and some knowledge in my brain. Don't get me wrong, I love college. I wished a lot of my college years away because I would talk about how I wanted to be an adult and out on my own. Well.. uh.. now I want to stay in college, learning about how to become a teacher for the rest of my life.

Being a REAL teacher, teaching young children who are depending on the information that you give them, hoping that your students will pass the standardized test at the end of the year. If they don't, then your school is put on "watch" and eeeks, you could lose your job. AHHH!!!

I don't want to grow up. Well I do. I want to get married to the amazing man that God has put before me, but I don't want to have to worry about bills and cooking and being a wife. AHH. I sometimes wish that I could go back to being 7 years old again.

Ok so this is totally random. But here are some things that I love so far about SR year..
* Getting to work in the classroom more often
* Having a boyfriend who loves me oh so much... btw his name is Joe.
* Having homework that keeps me busy... yes. They are a lot of fun and I enjoy being out with a team that is full of excitement and want to be in Africa and love children no matter what they look like.

We have visited a few houses. The first house we visited, they were already Christians and that was amazing so we just shared some of our favorite Bible verses with them and I thought that it was really neat to do that at our first house. The second place we went it was a little Tuck Shop. This is a shop that is for the community and they sell beer, snacks, bread, and other random things. We talked to two guys, Richard and Peter for a long time. They were talking about how they wanted to break the chains of alcoholism and smoking. But they were wanting to hold on to them as well. Just be praying that they will take the next step to break those chains.

Yesterday we hung out with a family and there was the CUTEST baby EVER!!! We gave her an English name, Joy. She was so happy and lovely. I wish that all babies were like that. :) Then in the afternoon we had Children's Ministry and it was a lot of fun. Mass chaos!!

Today we went back to the house with the cute baby and they asked us to try and build a fence to keep the chickens out of their garden. SO FUN!!! Today I played with string that smelled like pee, a broken knife, and scrap metal that screamed TETANUS!!! I thought that my mom would be proud of me playing with such amazing materials. In the afternoon we had Children's Ministry again and it was a lot of fun. 9 circles of duck duck goose with about 10 kids in each circle!! wow!!

Well that is all for now... I get to go to town on Saturday and purchase a lot of fun materials!!!!! WOOOOOTTTTT

love.
Mallory

Things I won't know how to do in America...

I have just been thinking lately about a lot of things. I have thought about the many things that are different here in Africa than in America.

* When I go to flush the toilet...the handle is on the opposite side.

* When I flush the toilet I have to jump before I get sprayed.

* I won't know how to drive on the correct side of the road and stop signs are optional here. I like that idea.

* I will be able to see the ground when I am walking because we will have lights. The only time that I can see the ground is if the moon is out or if I have a flashlight.

* The Moon's phases are different here. It is really weird. Stars are different as well. I will be able to observe the little dipper once again.

* I won't have to watch where I step because there won't be horse or deer poop everywhere.

* I can have the breeze of my fan instead of the breeze of the drafty window.

* I won't be out of breath climbing up a mountain for every meal. I look forward to this one very much!

* I won't know how to take a shower because the water will be nice. I won't have my skin boiled off or frozen off. :)

* I won't know how to wash my hands because here the hot water comes out of one faucet and the cold out of another. So you have to move your hands back and forth really fast... being careful not to boil or freeze them off.

* I won't know how to wash dishes. Here they wash the dishes the normal way but then when rinsing them you dip them in boiling water.

* I won't know what to do with the assortment of clothing. Because I have had to mix and match or not match my clothing that I brought.

* I won't know what to do without my daily Kitkat and Coke Light because that is what fills me up if dinner isn't the best.

* I won't have to worry about walking to my bedroom or the kitchen without being on the lookout for the psycho white pregnant horse.

* I won't have to worry about reaching for the toilet paper because the wind blows it to my hand.

* I won't have to worry about walking a 5K marathon with optional water breaks to hang out with my friends or eat dinner.

* I will actually have take care of myself and care what I look like. AKA take a daily shower.

* I won't have to worry about ants falling on my head when I am watching my movie.

I am very grateful for what I have in America but I am so thankful that I have had this opportunity to experience this type of life.

Love to all,
Mallory

Peeping Mosotho

On Monday my team was at a church and we were instructed to go in pairs. My friend Joe and I decided to go to the restroom together... here is what happened...

This is from Joe's blog... so the boy version of the story.

Arriving back at the church for lunch I had to use the bathroom. Considering we are in South Africa and toilet paper is not normally found in the facilities we had only brought one to use with us. Well considering the male and female restrooms are close to each other Mallory and I headed to the bathrooms together. We had to go in pairs and we we're the only two that needed to use the bathrooms. After Mallory cracking jokes about how her door does not have a latch on it and anyone could just push it open we went to the bathroom. When I was getting ready to prepare myself to go to the bathroom I suddenly saw a dark figure appear in the window. Startled and speechless I slowly backed away from the toilet and pushed the girl's bathroom door opened to tell Mallory that there was someone peeping in the window at us. All of a sudden the figure appeared in her window and we both screamed at the top of our lungs ( I actually think that I screamed louder than Mallory, go figure). After watching the figure scurring away in fear of our screams we decided it was safe to use the bathroom. Well we decided that we should do it in shifts. Mallory would go first and I would hold the door closed for her and we would then switch. Right as I was closing the door for Mallory the figure appeared in the window again. Face pressed tightly against the window. Yes, loud screams erupted from the bathrooms as we bolted out towards where everyone was sitting outside. Yelling that there was a peeping tom outside the bathrooms watching us use the toilets. The older guy that was with the team that is here and our translator ran around the church and saw the guy walking away from the area and just sat down... almost waiting for us to leave so he could do it again. So we ended up getting to go but only because a group stayed at the back of the bathrooms so no one would peep in. Creeper! Seriously this man was like 20-30 and was totally scary.

I thought that this was an interesting story that everyone would love to hear about. Of course this would happen to me. :)

Love from Africa,
Mallory

African survival food: Coke Light and Chockits

I am terrible at letting people know what is going on with my life here in South Africa. Sorry about that!!

Here is a rundown of what has been going on in my life since June 27th....

*I went to a lion park and I almost got my face clawed off by a teenage lion.
* I went on a safari in the lion park and I got to see some White lions. That was fun. And some tigers...I thought that it was strange to see tigers in Africa. They belong in Asia.
* Started Base Crew. This is where four of us Outreach Staffers stay behind and clean the base. It is fun because we get to clean in the morning and then NAP TIME in the afternoon. I am an expert toilet cleaner and dishwasher!!!
* Planted lots of gardens for people in Qwa Qwa. I learned lots of fun clicky words as well! :)
* I got to go to a hospital to bring a kid's parent there. The hospitals here...there are no signs to tell you where to go. I was walking around and some Sesotho people asked me "Are you confused?" instead of lost. I found it quite hilarious.
* I lead a lady to the Lord. It was really awesome. She was super excited to begin her walk with the Lord.
* 4th of July is a lot of fun. We went to our first restaurant. GLORIOUS!!! We had cheeseburgers, french fries, ice cream and we each got a sparkler! They also played Born in the USA for us. Of course I danced around!!
* We went to Royal Natal park and got to see baboons and did a scavenger hunt. It was a lot of fun. We also had pizza that day too. It was a piece of heaven, so much better than wildebeest!
* African church. I experienced many things that as a Baptist I would prolly never witness in my life. I saw a lady slained in the spirit. She went up for healing and then she was on the ground. My friend Joe thought that she had died. I also witnessed someone speaking in tongues and then it was translated. Interesting. At the end of the service the pastor had all of us from the US get up and start dancing around the church. It was fun.
* I talked to a lady who I believe with my whole heart that she is going to get healed by the time that we are done ministering to her. She had a stroke in February and since we have been with her praying for her, she can stand on her right leg and move most of her right hand. Her name is Rosalina. I will post a picture of her so you know what she looks like.
* I talked to two Jehovah's Witness yesterday. It was interesting getting to know what they believe. They need prayer as well, Patience and Elizabeth.
* I cut my hair last night. Picture to come.

I just ask that you all continue to pray for our health as it is getting a lot colder. It might snow today...SOOO EXCITED! I also ask that you pray for Joe and Angela's backs. They are on my team. They have back problems and they don't need this to hinder their ministry here in South Africa. I also ask that you pray for supernatural warmth. We are struggling with it. Pray for us and most importantly the people in Intabazwe and Qwa Qwa who are less fortunate than I.

Thank you so much for your support! I love you all!!

Freezing in Africa,
Mallory

Pictures of Rosalina and my hair cut....

Myself, Johanna, Rosalina and Caleb

Yay for a new hair do!!

I love my spiritual gifts....

Friday was a really awesome day out on ministry. I was so excited to be with my team again. The first house that we went to, the lady seemed kinda closed off and distant from us. She did tell us a lot about how she goes to the witchdoctor and asks for lots of spells and protection from evil spirits. She also told us that she prays to her ancestors so that they can deliver the message to Jesus. This may seem really strange but this is how the people here in South Africa think about Christianity. She did open up more and we told her about what we believe and we left her with some flyers with the church that we are working with.

In the afternoon, we went back to our first house. I love these people. They are so amazing. We made their garden a lot bigger and planted some spinach and cabbage for them. We also left them with the rest of the seeds that were in the packet. We got to play with the kids for a while after we were done planting. I was really excited to get to play with them. Meme was a lot of fun. She was like my grandma.

For dinner we had delicious wildebeest...well it smelled more like poop. So I kinda gagged.

Thrive Church was really good. Neil talked about and read out of Jude. This is a book that I think is very over looked. There are a lot of valuable lessons in it. The message was about building others up, something that every team needs to practice more often. If we don't build each other up then we are allowing satan to devour us and we will become divided. I thought that this was a very good message for my team to hear at this time in our trip.

Today, Friday, we went to the hospital and wow... this was one of the hardest things that I have ever done in my life. I was torn. We spilt up into our MIGs (ministry in groups) and first we went into the children's ward. As soon as we walked into the ward, I thought that I was going to burst into tears. Small children who have bandages wrapped around their heads. These children had: Tb, burns, been attacked by a dog on her face, one was 12 days old and her eyes were bleeding, pneumonia, flu, diarrhea, one baby was born prematurely and her twin sister died during birth, and many other things. These children were in metal beds that were spaced about 2 feet apart from each other. As soon as I walked out of the ward, I bursted into tears. I just weeped for these children. The simple Tb vaccination that I got for $5 is killing children over here in Qwa Qwa.

After the children's ward, we went to the Women's ward. There were a lot more women here than in the children's ward. To look into these ladies' eyes and see that they have no hope and are in so much pain just broke me. The first lady that I prayed with she had Tb. She was just laying there an in a lot of pain. The second lady that I prayed with, she had diabetes and she was getting ready to go home. PRAISE THE LORD!! The third lady that I prayed with, the only reason why she was in the hospital is because she ODed on pills. She was in such great health and she was just depressed and not enjoying her life. I prayed that Christ would heal her and that she would find love in Christ. The fourth lady, Elizabeth, she had a really bad kidney infection. While praying for her I broke into tears. She was in so much pain, she was screaming while we were praying for her. Jesus is the ultimate healer and I know that He will heal her.

Emotional day. Enough tears for the rest of the month.

I am enjoying my time right now in the Living Room... Rocking out to Backstreet Boys. "I want it that way"

Love to all.

Say moo much??

This week we started our relationship evangelism. It has been a lot of fun getting to know the people on my street. The first day, my friend Kristin and I washed all the curtains in this one family's house. We thought that they were going to give us a few to wash but they just kept coming! After that we washed the windows inside and out. Now... this was a HARDCORE cleaning job. My arm was sooo sore afterwards. In the afternoon we built a pigeon house. It was a lot of fun getting to know the little children. I was nick named the Pigeon Police because I was in charge of making sure that they didn't get out.

The next day we prayed for a few people and just sat and talked to them. A few houses down my MIG (Ministry in Group) dug out a driveway. That is some back breaking labor. No me gusta. After lunch we went to a house and a man came and poured into us. He was such an encouragement. I also washed dishes at this house and made bread with his mother. It was a lot of fun.

Today, it was a big day. We went to this one house and met a blind lady and we had our own little worship service. It was really cool. She wanted to know so many things about America and she spoke such good English. I was very impressed. We also learned about the Sesotho culture. We learned about dancing at the traditional wedding. It was very funny and Caleb felt very awkward because it is pretty much booty dancing. haha After we talked to them, we planted a lot of beans and after lunch, we brought back some different seeds for them to plant. We planted some spinach and cabbage (two things that I don't eat). While we were leaving to go back to another house, there was a heard of cows walking down the road, I asked our translator, David, if it was ok to walk and he was like Oh sure! Well I trusted him and so we were about a foot away and one of the african guys cracked a whip and they were starting to run towards us. I have never been so scared in my life. I had my little experience with running with the bulls. NEVER AGAIN!!

Tomorrow is our last day out with our street. Then on Friday we are going to the hospital and praying for sick people. I know that people are going to be healed and it is going to be amazing to witness God's power! Then Saturday is a SECRET! mmmm I can't wait!!

Tsamaya hantle loves!

*Mallory

Mount Everest

I love South Africa. God's beauty is seen all over the place. I walk out of my cabin and I see the three mountains that surround the base. I also see the beautiful brown fields that are all over the place. The only not pretty thing so far... is stepping in poop. They have horses all over the base and they are able to roam where ever they want. :/

Last night my friends and I laied out under the stars and it was such an amazing experience. You can see sooo many stars. I didn't know that so many existed. Being in the Southern Hemisphere, I didn't realize that there are different constellations. I was trying to find the Big Dipper...but that is not able to be seen down here. Now I need to study the stars! haha

Yesterday we went to the local orphanage in Harrismith. Those children are so precious and I love them. They have the most beautiful voices ever and one song that they were singing really hit home. They were singing "Thank you Lord for everything that you have done in (someones) life". This really moved me to tears. These orphans have absolutely nothing and they are Thanking the Lord for everything that He has done for them. It really humbled me.

Today is our off day and a few friends and I decided that we were going to climb one of the mountains that are here on base. We decided that we were going to climb Mount Everest. Oh my gosh. It only took us a little less than an hr to get up there. I was SUPER impressed with myself. Granted it is the shortest mountain on the base but still.... I CLIMBED A MOUNTAIN! WOOT! It was a lot of fun. Granted I couldn't breathe a times but... I caught my breath.

Well that is all from Africa...

Love.
Mallory

Mah-widge

Well it seems to be that time of year again/stage in life, where people decide that they are going to get married/engaged.

Part 1

To my friends that will be getting married,

I will be in South Africa for 2 months and I am sad that I will be missing out on so many of my friends weddings. I love going to weddings and supporting my friends in their life time commitments but I know that God has called me to South Africa for a reason. (Maybe I will meet my future hubby there... JUST KIDDING! BUT... that would be awesome.) Oh I make myself laugh sometimes. I just want to say CONGRATS to my friends who will be getting hitched...Justin and Kathryn, Michelle, Kim, Chris, Jessica, and if I forgot you... I am TERRIBLY sorry but there are soo many weddings. I wish you all the best lives and happiness!!

******************************************************************************

Part 2

To my friends who are thinking about getting engaged over the summer,

Just because I am in Africa and I won't have my cell phone on DOES NOT mean that I get to find out about your engagement over Facebook. That is NOT cool. If I was in the states, I would receive a phone call so I should receive an e-mail instead. If you want to call my cell phone and leave a message, that is great too but I won't get to check it until August 9.

Especially if this is a HUGE surprise... I must know!

Well I will be leaving in 5 days so you all should get engaged fast so I can have a few days to celebrate it and call and hear the story! Well I got in my car this morning to go sub and everything that is supposed to be in my glove box was in the passenger seat or on the floor. I called my grandma because I didn't know if she needed something and forgot to put the papers back. She said that she didn't get in my car.

I then realized that my console was open and all of my notepads were in the backseat along with my cell phone charger. I didn't notice anything missing at first but then I was like wait.. if someone breaks into your car, they usually take cds. WELL... my purple cd case was gone. It is ok.... I had all of that music loaded onto my itunes on my computer :)

I then checked my overhead flap thingy and all of those cds were still there. I guess the people will just be hearing about Jesus and hopefully they will understand what they are doing is wrong!

Just some news for ya....

ps. no windows were broken so I don't know how they got in.

Working...

Today was my first day subbing here in the grand school district of Independence. I was blessed to have Kindergarten. I think that I have made it pretty clear in my mind that I DO NOT want to teach Kindergarten. I love playing with them outside of school but trying to keep them in a classroom all day long and teach them things...not my idea of fun.

Today I had students:
* In the first hr of the day I was assigned another teacher.
* Climbing walls in the bathroom. Not stall walls but actual walls and climbing into the window.
* I was told that I was mean. (That is my favorite comment)
* I had a girl come up to me, her arm about 12 inches from her nose and there was a line of snot connecting the dots.
* One of my students had a nose bleed.
* Had a fist fight and tears the last 20 min of school.
* Sent 5 students to buddy rooms.
* Heard words that would not come out of my mouth.

Remind you...this is kindergarten.

I discovered today that I love teaching students one on one. I love helping students who are struggling and help them understand so that they can get up to task with the rest of the students. I also discovered how much I love teaching overseas. I love that children overseas have a lot more respect for strangers and teachers that come into their classroom.

Only 41 more days until South Africa. I cannot wait! I am so super excited to be on foreign soil again.

mmm yes.

75 Days

Well there are only 75 days left until I leave for South Africa. I am soo excited that God has planned this adventure out for me! It is going to be an amazing time and I know that I am going to grow leaps and bounds and have my heart changed in ways that only God can do.

Right now I am currently in our stinky library sitting at a computer that looks like a dog licked the monitor to "clean" it. Oh HLG how I will not miss thee this summer.

Summer needs to get here...well at least May. I think that I have a mild case of senioritis and I still have 1 year left!! Boo hiss.

I have met some of my team members and I am soooo excited to get to "meet" them on Saturday when we have our conference call. It is going to be AWESOME and I get to know all of the details about my trip and what time I'm leaving KC...well maybe not that yet...but I hope I get to know that. Also this weekend I am going to a Missions Conference and I am WAYYY stoaked about it. God is going to teach me some awesome things. I feel like I'm truely becoming a missionary because lets see.... I don't bathe often, I don't care about my looks...well some of the times I care... I don't have a fake tan (but I wish that I did) so the pale is the new tan... I rely on other people and GOD to help me find my way around the world to tell people about Him and... I'm going to a conference. haha.

What else can I ramble about??? uh.... I have mentioned that I'm over school? Because I am. I had 6 days of no homework and then all of a sudden...BAM..tons of homework. I'm not liking this. I like the steady pace of homework.

I have no free weekends.. well the last weekend of April. This weekend...conference, the following weekend... D-Now..SO EXCITED!! Then the following weekend it is the Cardinals game and Gala!! I need to find a part so that I can practice my character!! :)

Ok well it is time for chapel... :)

Love.

It's Friday but Sunday's comin...

I was driving over to my grandma's house and I heard the song, It's Friday but Sunday's comin. (I'm not sure if that is the name of the song but that is what I'm going to call it.)

So God just really gave me this burst of energy and a rush of emotions. Today is Friday, the day that Jesus died on the Cross for your sins and mine. It was a terrible day to be on the face of this earth. Jesus suffered a terrible and horrible death. This is something that I myself would not want to see, but we do get a small glimpse of what that was like because of the movie, The Passion of the Christ.

BUT... what makes my "religion" so different from everyone elses was that MY GOD came BACK TO LIFE!!! He is alive and living in me and is waiting to live in you if you do not know Him. Romans 6:9 " For we know that since Christ was RAISED from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has a hold on him."!!!!!!

Romans 10:9-10 says, "If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord", and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believed and are justified, and it s with your mouth that you confess and are saved."

Romans 6:23 " For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

This weekend is the most powerful weekend of all of Christianity. Yes, Christmas is good. but I would have to say that Easter is even better. It is just sooo amazing to know that Christ died on the cross for me and he came back to life!

love.

I love Jesus but drink a little

The other day I was blog surfing and came across an AMAZING video! This video makes me laugh sooo hard every time I watch it...almost to the point of peeing my pants..THAT HARD.

Everyone should watch it and then come back and comment on what your opinions of drinking are.

This is the video: http://www.boreme.com/boreme/funny-2007/ellen-gladys-hardy-p1.php?emf=1

I believe that it is OK to love Jesus and drink a little. In the bible it talks about not being a drunkard and most of the time we forget the last half of that verse. It also says to not be a glutton. Growing up a Southern Baptist, it was pounded in my head that you are not to touch alcohol because it is from Satan. Well, maybe not that exaggerated but you get the point. Anyways, us Southern Baptists have "fellowship" dinners. aka.. eat until you can't eat anymore. That is called gluttony my friends. When we eat to the point where we are in physical pain.

So, in conclusion, I don't think that it is wrong to drink a little. I think that it is perfectly fine to have a social drink with some friends. There is nothing bad about it. It is the mindset that will get you in trouble.

Just something to ponder...

Love.

Looking

This evening I watched August Rush with a few ladies whom I love. This movie is very powerful. It toys with your emotions. :)

In the movie, the boy Evan... August Rush, is trying to find his parents. He is doing everything that he possibly can at the age of 11. He loves music more than he loves food. This is something that the Wizard, Robin Williams, taught him. He wants to find his parents so bad. People keep telling him that they are dead or that they won't want him. His mom wants to know what is going on with him as well.

This is going to sound crazy but I realated this story to my future husband. I think about him all the time and I wonder if he thinks about me. I'm sure that he prays for me and is trying to find me. He is earestly seeking and trying to formulate when we will meet each other. My life verse realates well to this, well I think. Psalm 37:4-5,7a Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this. Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him.

I know that I must wait patiently for him and cling to the Lord because the Lord is my constant. In the movie, August's constant is music. When he is feeling down or alone, he runs to his music. This is something that we must do in our faith.

I know that this may sound cheezy but this is what my heart is right now. I am laying it out for everyone to see how much I truely care about my future husband. I love him with all that I have. I pray for him every day and hope that he is growing in the Lord and clinging to him because I will disapoint my husband many times. The Lord will never disappoint us. He will always be there for us and will never leave. I'm not saying that I will leave my husband but that I am not a perfect person. Only Christ is perfect. We must strive to become like Christ. I pray that this is what my future husband is doing.

I love you babe!

Mallory

Spring Break

I was so excited for you to be here but now I am so excited for you to be over.
It is Wednesday and I think...think I have all of my homework done that can be done at home.
I'm ready to turn 21.
I am so excited to hear the awesome stuff that is happening in Florida for Beach Reach.
Jesus pretty much rocks when it comes to changing peoples hearts.

I'm ready to go to South Africa. Well at least I think I'm ready.
I wish that there was stuff that I could read to prepare myself for this awesome adventure that I am going to embark on this summer.
New friends. They are always so fun.
I love being away from the American culture and allowing God to speak to my heart.
I wish that I could hear Him so clearly when I am in "my environment" but it is so hard for me to focus.
Could someone please be praying for me in that area?

I love blogging. It keeps me young. haha. I just like getting all of my thoughts out there and out of the way so that I can think clearly. Does that make since? I hope that it does.

I am very happy for all of my friends that are getting married this summer. What an awesome time God has placed in their lives. One day it will be my turn and EVERYONE is going to know about it. haha.

I have discovered a new favorite TV show since being home.... My Big Redneck Wedding. Why do these people think that it is necessary to have such a weird wedding? I'm sure part of it is because the tv show gives them money. Oh oh ... another favorite show is... Trading Spouses. Some of those rich people need to be knocked off their high horse. So at the end of the show each wife writes a letter to the family that they stayed with and they tell them how the $50,000 is going to be spent. Well this one black lady was at this ritsy Japanese/American house and the grandma was from Japan and hasn't been back in a long time. Well the black lady left all the money to be spent by the Japanese Grandma on a trip to Japan. How nice right? Well the white nasty high horse lady was like well that is not right. It could have been put in my children's college fund...blah blah blah... and then she says... well now she (the gma) has to pay taxes on it and so we don't have anything to do with that money. NASTY WOMAN!

Wow this is a really random post...but this is how my mind has worked this time home.

I did laundry on Saturday...6 weeks worth in 1 day!!! Awesome...I know! haha. Well all put the last load has been folded. It is still sitting in my basket. I'm sure that I won't fold it until I put it back into the dryer to be de-wrinkled on Saturday. Wow...I'm lazy.

Today I have sat at the computer for uh.. about 6 hrs of my day and I have only been up since 11:30.

Oh and the cyst on my tailbone... could someone pray that it goes away because it is killing me to sit down. k thanks!

Thank you Spring Break.

Love <3

AFRICA!!!

In 115 days I will be boarding a plane that will probably lead to another plane but eventually I will be in South Africa!! I am so excited that God has placed this opportunity in my lap. I have always wanted to go to Africa and here I am...talking about my soon to be adventure.

I'm praying that God will open my eyes to things that I wouldn't have seen before this trip. That God will continue molding me into the Woman of God that He wants me to become. I am praying that through this trip I will become a better person, friend, daughter, wife (one day), and love Christ so passionately that nothing will faze me.

South Africa. How amazing it feels to be here. I was soo excited driving home from Hannibal, MO last Thursday because I hadn't seen my family in a while. I was excited that MY summer was finally here and I didn't have to focus on school. All I get to do is travel the world and tell people about Jesus and spend time with my family.

I pulled in the driveway and honked my horn, it is a ritual, then I walked inside and no one was to be found. Strange but normal. My stepdad had just gotten out of the shower and wrapped a towel around himself and just hugged me so tightly and then started to cry. Mind you, I have only see him cry 2 times in the 18 years that I have known him. So, I thought that that was a little strange. He was like we have missed you so much and we are so glad that you are home!!!

My mom walks in the door and was like AHHH MALLORY I'm so happy that you are home. Ok, no big deal, she is always excited to see me come home. I love that feeling.

Then...the bad news starts to roll. My mom has been tested for cervical cancer and she is supposed to find out the test results today. My gma had another sezure and so I was kinda shook up about that. Then there was a lot of stuff that happened with my sister which brought tears to my eyes. I just went and sat in my room and cried my eyes out. The three most important women in my life, something has to happen to them. My mom came up to my room and was like what is wrong, I told her that I was just really sad and that I haven't heard any good news since I have been home.

Satan is attacking. He is such a little jerk. He would do this right before I leave for my mission trip to Thailand, which is in 9 days. I won't let him get my focus off of my mission trip. I will not let him.

I spend some quality time with the family in Iowa. It was fun. Caitlin and I painted gma's table BRIGHT festive colors. She also decided to kill all of the flys in Iowa as well.

Had coffee with the gals. T'was fun. Went to a Mary Kay meeting and I have decided that I would love to participate in it but, right now is not my time. I'm having a garage sale on saturday and I hope to make BIG BUCKS!!

Well that is all for now. Love you all dearly.

Oh the excitement

Saturday was such a fun day!

Jonas and Charissa got married and it was such a beautiful wedding. I haven't figured out how to put pictures up yet but I will.

On the way down to the wedding Melissa and I were talking about being pulled over and such. I was like I um...don't know where my registration is. I sure hope I can find it. Well I didn't find it. So we just chatted about other things.

WELL... on the way back from the wedding...I GET PULLED OVER!!! THE FIRST TIME EVER!! I was like oh crap! I was like "Melissa, should I call my mom?" The very nice looking cop was like oh... don't need your license I was just pulling you over to let you know that the left lane is for passing only. There is no need to drive in it. I was like oh ok. Then he decides to keep talking about Hannibal-LaGrange and why I was down in Lynn Creek. BLAH BLAH BLAH. Well when he left Melissa was like look in the mirror. I was as white as a ghost. Oh deary.

I only have 3 days left of class. How amazing is that then summer REALLY begins! woot woot! I have to turn in my 8-10 page paper and take my final.

I'm so excited for this summer... OH... I'M GOING TO AMERICAN IDOL TOUR CONCERT!! yay!!!

Well that is all for now.

SIGH OF RELIEF...for a while

Well... I'm here in good Hannibal, MO still and let me tell ya... I didn't think that I was going to have so much fun. I'm staying with the Haye's and they are some FUNNY people. I enjoy hanging out with them and they make my stay here worth while.

Class.. Intro to Government.. well that is not so fun. I am paying $4,000 or so to bore myself to pieces for 2.5 hrs a day. I will have to say that my doodling skills and my left handed writing has improved. We have 2 3-4 page papers and 1 8-10 page paper to write oh...and then a final. It is perty easy but not my choice of excitement. I think that watching paint dry would be more fun. Granted I am taking a semester long class in 3 weeks, so that is a plus.

There have been some tough times during May Term, but God is good and He is pulling us through.

I am so excited about my trip to Thailand. I am getting to talk to more and more people from my trip. My project director is from MISSOURI!!! wooo we will be rep'n MO! I can't believe that I leave for Thailand, well Texas but I embark on my journey, 3 weeks from tomorrow!! That seems insaine. I need to do some serious family hang out timeage.

Jenny is in AFRICA. How crazy. I can't believe that one of my best friends is in AFRICA. She will be there for 2 months so if you all could please pray for her, that would be amazing.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I'm done.

Sicker than a dog

Yesterday was a fun day. I didn't have any finals...well I did have to clean the ceramics room but that was nothing. Went to Dr. Hufty's house and that was a lot of fun. I got bit by plenty of misquitoes.

Midnight breakfast rolls around. I'm still feeling stuffed from eating hot dogs and smores. Well then all of a sudden it turns for the worst. My stomach is doing flips and other stuff is going on. Bah.

I puke at midnight breakfast. Not a fun thing to do. I start drinking sierra mist hoping that that will ease the rumblings. BUT NO. I wake up every hour and spend my quailty time with the toilet. I have never been this sick in my life. So I miss 2 finals today. GREAT!!! I haven't left my apartment yet today but thanks to my amazing friends they went and got me Cherry 7up.

I hate being sick. It is no fun. One of the finals that I missed today, that was my first time missing that class all semester. lol

Well I hope that you aren't too grossed out now. I am going to go lay in my bed again. This is what I have been doing all day.

Gibberish

As the semester winds down, it seems like drama winds up. The more I try to relax, the more it seems as if there is more drama. Boo hiss.

I worked in the nursery today and I had just two little girls to myself. They are precious. I went to eat Mexican food with some friends and that was a lot of fun. I layed outside because God has decided that the weather in Missouri needs to warm up a bit. I now have some color to my skin besides PALE WHITE. I took a little nappy and then went back to church to watch one little girl.

I have one final tomorrow but come on... all I have to do for my final is clean. How easy.
